So first attempt at doing a blog here.
Extremely unusual times for sure but i feel like I have been practicing for a while. As an IT Contractor I often find myself out of work, my last role completing in September 2019. Normally my days routine consists of getting myself and the kids up, breakfast sorted, uniforms ironed, lunch made and then walking the pair of them to school. Upon my return its a case of job hunting, preparing my CV for each application, a few tasks round the house and get some shopping in – very often not seeing many people during the day. So the lockdown does not seam that much different from what I have been experiencing.
Obvioulsy job hunting in these times is not easy, in the week before the schools stopped I had two interviews both via the computer (one with Skype, the other with MS Teams). I secured a second interview and belive I was successful, however the company is putting a recruitment freeze on and trying to get my role complete. I cant say I have the job yet as I have had no paper work to sign.
From a Scouting side, obviously all our meetings have been cancelled. All of our brilliant leaders have sent out badge packs to the various sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts) to help entertain the young people at home. We are having our first go at Virtual Scouting this week. Using Zoom we will have an online video conference, still have not worked out a full plan for the evening. Initial thoughts are to have a scavenger hunt, chat about Scout’s displaying leadership during these times and setting a weekly challenge. I might even get one of the Scouts to do a Quiz that we can try the following week.
